With Christ, I'm Possible.

This may seem to be just a painting. It's much more than that. It's my heart and soul poured onto this canvas. It's years of thinking I couldn't. It's years of thinking I was nothing & I would never amount to anything because I'd never push hard enough to try.
This painting symbolizes my recovery from drug addiction & alcohol abuse. This painting represents years of not speaking out about being sexually abused. This painting embodies all that I have grown to be.
Several weeks back, I had a conversation with a friend whom I've grown close with recently. I said how life for me was impossible without Christ. But with Christ, I'm possible!
When I was lost, I would wander around aimlessly never knowing what was next. Always thinking, "why me? Why does all this stuff have to happen to me?" Christ wasn't present in my life. He didn't instruct my days. He didn't lead me to the path of righteousness. You know why? Because I didn't want Him to.
I wasn't interested in changing one iota of my life for anyone; let alone Christ. I came to Him & He has cleaned me up. I'm far from perfect. I won't get the Mother of the Year Award, or Wife of the Year Award for that matter but, I do my best to do what is acceptable in the eyes of the Lord on a minute-to-minute basis. Not just because it's Sunday, or because I know someone sees me, because it's every day, and what you do behind closed doors matters just as much, as what you do in the public eye.
There are people who are still waiting in the wings for me to fail & I'm okay with that. I think they'll always be there, watching and waiting. Sometimes it's incredibly irritating, but I'm doing my best to be understanding.
This painting is the beginning of great things to come. My intentions are a line of products dedicated to the "I'm Possible" theme. I will donate 10% of the purchase price (of each work) to Speakyoursilence.org. Follow the link that I have provided & find out more information on #thestitch. Stay tuned for excellence.

Reindeer Games

I saw this adorable idea on Pinterest. Isn't that how all sentences seem to start these days? We needed a snack for school & a gift tag for a gift bag. Here's the process:

I had leftover Reindeer & came up with this little nose/scarf combo. I'm all about finding a use for everything. Reindeer needs scarves too!

Merry Christmas!

Homemade Advent Calendar

I've been wanting to make an advent calendar for years and finally followed through. I thought it would be fun for the kids. I had help from Owen, which I love. He colored the tree for me. The ornaments have sweet little things to do every day.

We live in Southeast Georgia, there will be no snow, only dirt and sand. Who doesn't love dirt?

Sweet Potato Stamps

Stamps are expensive. Homemade ones can be made from a variety of things: foam, wood, sweet potatoes, etc.

This idea stemmed from the need for an easy, inexpensive way to stamp 250 white gift bags for a project that I was working on.

I decided to do crowns for girls & tractors for boys. I think they turned out pretty good.

Spiderweb Frame

I found the cutest little idea for Halloween on Pinterest the other day. Of course, I did mine a little differently but, same overall concept. Taadaah!

I'm HUMAN. I Hope You are, too.

Day One

I didn't realize I scheduled my first Art Journaling class on my anniversary, but I did. He has a plan for me.

2,190 days clean from meth today.

For those of you that have been with me every step of the way with support & love:

1 Thessalonians 5:11 - Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.

I thank you. Support is key.

The Thrill is Gone.

Alright look, this was last year. This is exactly how far behind that I am. The Elf didn't do any magnificent tricks this year. He just hid. He was also "found out". Yep, the thrill is gone.
No, the thrill isn't gone. It's still fun but, the cat is out of bag. The jig is up. Alright, alright...

Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

Meet Juliet

Here she is,
Presenting Juliet...

She didn't turn out perfect, but hopefully she'll turn out the perfect Wedding dress!

I used a trash bag to start and then duct taped over it. That took about 30 minutes. I cut up the front of the form to remove it, then carefully taped it back shut. I used an oval slice of cardboard to fill the bottom and taped that on. The filler ended up being a variety of things, mostly fashion magazines. The first layer was a half a bag of Poly-fil, second layer was a can of Great Stuff (didn't like the way it set) and finally decided to use magazine pages.

Total Cost = $4
(I had everything I needed, except for the Great Stuff that I really ended up not needing anyhow)

I'm sure I'll be covering her with decoupage or fabric or something wonderful....

Here Comes the Sun

Expressing yourself is key; in whatever way you feel you need to do so, do just that.

Valentine's Day Fun

I am always looking for new crafts that Owen and I can do together. You can find this craft here. I found this little diddy on craftgawker.com (love that place).

I used a paper towel roll and cut it in 1/2 inch slices:

Cut out a few hearts, used a little Crayola children's paint and of course, he had to improve his Dr. Seuss Valentine's we got from the store...

We are a creative home!

Faith

This is a project that has been in the works since May of 2011. This is one of my projects on my Creative Overdrive is On list and it's finally finished. It turned out awesome! This is very near and dear to my heart. I received this ceramic bowl from some wonderful friends that I am very fortunate to have in my life and consider them family. I decided to go with a zebra print once I got started painting and ended up putting the Christian Fish Symbol with the word Faith inside it from a picture I saw on Pinterest.

The finished product!

We worked together !
The idea!
I was halfway through this when I located this idea on Pinterest (thanks to a friend)!
The beginning!

Roses Are Red

I have been working on this project all week, here and there. I saw this fabulous idea at The Idea Room.net and of course, had to incorporate My Spin. I've been seeing all of these lovely flowers on Pinterest, made out of felt and paper and had to try a few myself.

When I think of Valentine's Day, I think of red roses:

Roses Are Red
Love the brilliant color
It all started from two old recliner springs and some wire...

The circles were around 3 1/2 in diameter. I used small sheets of felt (bought from Wal-Mart); folds in thirds and then in half and that made 6 circles per sheet; 22 sheets of 132 circles. I used pins to pin the roses and several mini sticks of hot glue later, tadaaaah!

The Wedding Planner

Being the organizer that I am, I have to have a planner for the wedding or I will never be able to keep up with all of it. I originally planned on doing something a little different, but here's what I came up with:

Simple and Cute
This is the "2nd Choice" sticker. I had a different one, changed it because it looked darker than the graphic and realized, it was the lighting! All is well, I like this one better anyhow!

Isn't she lovely?

You can find this free graphic and lots of others at The Graphics Fairy.

Wall Hanging

I got this amazing wall hanging for Christmas and of course, couldn't wait to gaudy it up a bit! I have to add my spin to everything!

Scribble Your Emotions!

I have recently been "introduced" to a fabulous gal with awesome ideas! Today I tried: Scribble Your Emotions from Be Inspired Design! Here's what I came up with:

As you all may or may not know, I'm getting married in June and of course, am looking for lots of creative flow to plan my wedding! I drew this little diddy in my Wedding Planner Sketchbook because this is currently how I feel!

Owen's Art Display

Well, I fixed the clock and made an art display for my sweet boy's paintings. This took a little bit longer than expected (2 1/2 hours) to cut and fit the paintings and drawings.

From Start....

....To Finished!
That makes two projects from my 2012 Creative Overdrive List that are finished. Only 10 to go!

Make Your Own Stamps

I do lots of crafts with my munchkin, Owen during the day. We get subscriptions to different magazines and one I love is Family Fun. I discovered a great little stamp in the Special Holiday Issue. I did one stamp with Owen's name and one stamp with Love. Owen's name didn't turn out (it's very important to get the Puff Paint level; in the process of the 2nd try drying now!) and Love did.

Here's the sample of Love:

Scrap Wood and Puff Paint

Apply Paint

Rinses Right Off with Warm Water

I kinda like how it's not perfect :)

AdVenTureS

I HAD to use this jar that I got for free from a friend of a friend. All I did was remove the label and added a few of my gaudy touches and Tadaaaaaaah:

Everyone needs a place to save money for adventures, right?!?!
